Naan Bread

Naan Bread

Ingredients:
10g packet of yeast
1 cup warm water
¼ white sugar
3 T milk
1 egg, beaten
2 t salt
4 ½ cups flour

Method:

  1. In a large bowl dissolve yeast in warm water. Let it stand for about 10 minutes, until frothy.
  2. Stir in the sugar, milk, egg and salt and enough flour to make a soft dough.
  3. Knead for 6-8 minutes on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Place dough in a well oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth and set aside to rise.
  5. Let it rise for about an hour until the dough has doubled in volume.
  6. Punch dough down. Pinch off small handfuls of dough about the size of a golf ball.
  7. Roll into balls and place on a tray. Cover with a towel and allow to rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
  8. While dough is rising preheat grill.
  9. Roll the ball of dough out into a thin circle, you may need flour to prevent from sticking.
  10. Place dough on tray and cook for two to three minutes or until puffy and lightly browned. Then turn over and grill the other side.
